where b, c and d already absorb the halving. The transfer function
vanishes at kdx = pi for any admissible af, so the 2dx mode is
removed outright; af controls only how sharply the cut-off is
approached. af must lie in (-0.5, 0.5), and af -> 0.5 is the sharpest,
leaving resolved scales essentially untouched.
This is what keeps the collocated divergence small enough that the
skew-symmetric convection conserves momentum: compact schemes cannot
dissipate the 2*dx mode, and the staggered pressure projection cannot
see it.
Nodes of different colours represent the following:
Solid arrows point from a procedure to one which it calls. Dashed
arrows point from an interface to procedures which implement that interface.
This could include the module procedures in a generic interface or the
implementation in a submodule of an interface in a parent module.
Where possible, edges connecting nodes are
given different colours to make them easier to distinguish in
large graphs.
